In the latest teaser for the next episode of CW’s The Flash, Iris and Barry trade jobs for a day and Central City gets a brand new Flash.

Season 4 of CW’s The Flash has been fairly intense thus far, what with Barry going to prison and the trip into the Flashtime. So the fact that next week’s episode will be something much lighter and humorous couldn’t come at a better time.

And what says fun more than an old fashioned body swapping storyline?

Watching as two characters trade bodies or super powers is a tradition almost as old as comic books. And with the upcoming episode of The Flash having a title like “Run, Iris, Run” it is fairly simple to guess what viewers have to look forward to.

From the CW synopsis of the episode:

Team Flash confronts a new bus meta, Matthew AKA Melting Pot (guest star Leonardo Nam), with the ability to swap people’s DNA. During a battle with Team Flash, Harold transfers Barry’s (Grant Gustin) super speed to Iris (Candice Patton). Now, with a new threat unleashed on Central City, Barry must act as the team leader while Iris takes on the mantle of superhero speedster in order to defeat their new foe.

Fans have been buzzing about “Run, Iris, Run” ever since pictures of Candice Patton in her new speedster outfit were released online back in January. With the writers making a big push to put Iris front and center this season, giving her Barry’s super speed and making her the hero of Central City would appear to be the next logical step, even if it only proves to be only temporary.

There’s no doubt that a lot of the fun of the episode will be watching Iris zooming around using the Speed Force, saving the day and enjoying becoming the latest version of the Fastest Woman Alive. But from the teaser it seems like watching Barry adjusting to taking on his wife’s role as the leader of Team Flash from behind the scenes will be almost as enjoyable.

Of course, being this is the Arrowverse, there is every chance that this won’t be the only time we see Iris suit up and save the day. Let’s just hope they come up with a snazzy superhero name for her if and when that happens.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 PM on The CW.
